“Something went wrong” keeps appearing on Intercom

Intercom has strict requirements for how long it will wait for your WooCommerce site to reply to Canvas Kit requests. In general, this must be under 5 seconds. Importantly, this time is not determined by our plugin; rather, it is a product of your hosting and database capabilities.

If you continually see this message, consider the following:

  • Check Intercom is not being blocked from accessing your site. For example, if you use WordFence or similar plugins, or CDN services like Cloudflare, which can block requests
  • We recommend dedicated hosting and databases, not shared hosting. Our host of choice is Rocket.net
  • Use caching services like Redis to reduce your database load and decrease lookup load times.

We do not offer refunds if your server setup cannot respond to Intercom in a timely fashion.
