What email is used for Thinkific students when they make a purchase in WooCommerce?
The plugin supports several options for when a student purchases. In general, we recommend forcing users to log into WooCommerce/WordPress before they check out; in other words, do not permit guest checkouts. This ensures a user does not accidentally type the wrong email for repeat purchases.
The plugin has three options:
Order billing email, unless signed into WooCommerce account (Recommended) – If the user is signed in to their account, the plugin will use their billing email. Otherwise, it will use the billing email of the order.
WooCommerce account email (User must be signed in to WooCommerce) – The user must be signed in, and if so, their account email will be used. To use this option, you must force users to log in before checkout i.e. Disable guest checkouts in WooCommerce.
Order billing email—The billing email will be used regardless of whether the user is logged in or not. We recommend not using this option as there is a high risk that repeat orders will mistype their emails or use a different email, leading to different accounts in Thinkific. It is not possible to merge account progress.
